The ballot count for our Local 135 Negotiating Committee was conducted this afternoon, Monday, July 19, 2010, starting at 1500 hrs at the Local 135 Union Hall, 1233 Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203. 

"Big Mike" Swinson and Mike Winegar attended as observers. Names in BOLD were elected to the committee.

The Top 10 vote getters received:

1)  Nicole Zimmer received 355 votes.
2)  Christopher Brown received 245 votes.
3)  Cheryl McLaughlin received 133 votes.
4)  Jessie Malinowski received 129 votes.
5)  Amber Stroh received 116 votes.
6)  Michael Winegar received 93 votes.
7)  Michelle Oden received 63 votes.
8)  Angela Eads received 53 votes.
9)  Danny Callahan received 56 votes.
10) Marcia Cornwell received 53 votes.

Management has confirmed an initial "meet and greet" with the newly elected members of the Negotiating Committee on July 21 and 22 to begin the process of trying to agree on some initial ground rules, dates to meet in the future, discuss the "State of the Company," etc. 

We're looking forward to this initial meeting and are cautiously optimistic that this will be a productive re-start to securing the Contract you all want and deserve.

In the Base Steward Elections, the following have been elected to serve in their Base. Names in Bold were elected or won by default.

Bases without a name next to them had no candidate running and thus are currently vacant. Vacant positions may be filled at a later date in accordance with the Local 135 By-laws.

The PIT Base Steward election resulted in a tie which will be decided in a manner to be determined.

Not too surprisingly, pay and per diem were at the top of the priority list of things needing to be improved. Other important issues were Health care, retirement, scheduling and Quality of Life issues.

As our negotiations progress we will be publishing additional mini-surveys about specific areas of the contract so we can get feedback from  you, our members, about what you want to see changed/improved.
